Are you hoping 2019 will be the year to finally land a work-from-home gig? If so, FlexJobs has identified the best companies to watch closely as the year unfolds.
In formulating its list of the top 100 companies to watch for remote jobs in 2019, FlexJobs analyzed the job postings of 51,000 companies to find the firms that offered the most “remote-friendly” openings last year. That means openings that offer some level of remote work.
Brie Weiler Reynolds, a senior career specialist at FlexJobs, explains in a blog post:
“In 2018, these 100 companies posted the most remote job listings, and we expect their support for remote work to continue into 2019 and beyond.”
The top 10 companies on the list are:
- Working Solutions
- Kelly Services
- UnitedHealth Group
Computer and IT companies — such as Appen and Lionbridge — had more entries than any other type of employer. They made up more than one-fourth of the entries on the list. Medical and health companies are the second-most common on the 2019 list.
Other career fields offering a large number of remote positions include sales and education and training, FlexJobs says.
Fields such as customer service, finance, and human resources and recruiting also featured heavily on the list.
It’s worth noting that about one-third of the companies that made this year’s list did not make the cut in 2018. So, if you didn’t land that dream work-from-home job last year, you’ve got new companies to target, and reason for renewed optimism as you look for the perfect telecommuting opportunity.
Should you work from home?
Many of us dream of stepping back from the rat race — and the bumper-to-bumper traffic jams of our daily commute — and trading in suits and skirts for days working in our pajamas.
But should you really try to make that dream a reality?
Maybe so. Some people are especially cut out to work from home — or simply ill-suited for life in an office. As we recently wrote in “9 Signs That You Should Be Working From Home“:
“Not everyone has the discipline to work without supervision. But if you do, working at home can give you much greater control over your life — not to mention reduce your expenses and stress.”
