CELEBRITY X Factor bosses have given themselves a language-barrier headache by signing up a Latin American girl group.
Producers on the hunt for talent to impress Simon Cowell were wowed by the five girls, all successful social media influencers with a combined following of more than 11million.
But Spanish-speaking Sofia, Alondra, Laura, Natalie and Wendii have limited English.
The girls are from Puerto Rican, Colombian, Cuban, American and Brazilian backgrounds.
Show sources say the language issues are causing “a nightmare” for backstage staff.
One told me this week: “The girls are incredibly talented, there’s no doubt why the producers wanted to sign them for this series. They will blow everyone away.
“The only problem is that while they can sing perfectly in English, they are not that comfortable with the language.
“Simple things like getting them in the right place at the right time can be tricky.
“So, frustratingly, everything takes that bit longer than it should.
“The feeling on set at Simon’s house in LA was, ‘Thank God these girls can really sing’, otherwise the casting directors would have created a rod for our backs with no reason.”
The source added: “We are hoping that if they go through to the live shows they have a chance to brush up with some emergency lessons.
“Otherwise we’ll have some problems with the girls answering all the questions from Dermot O’Leary.”
The girlband will be going head to head with contestants including ex Strictly pro Brendan Cole, telly newsman Martin Bashir and Meghan Barton-Hansen.
Love Islanders Zara McDermott, Eyal Brooker, Wes Nelson and Samira Mighty will all be competing as a group, as are rugby trio Ben Foden, Thom Evans and Levi Davis.
X Factor sources last night insisted that the language barrier had not caused any issues during filming, pointing out that previous contestants have not spoken English as a first language.
At least if their knowledge of English is patchy, the girls won’t struggle to block out any caustic comments from the judges.
To help out Simon and Co, I have put together some handy Spanish phrases for them.
SIMON’S SPANISH GUIDE
“I didn’t like that, I loved it”
“Eso no me gustó, me encantó”
“It was a bit karaoke”
“Fue un poco de karaoke”
“You made that your own”
“Lo hiciste tuyo”

Camila shines on stage
CAMILA CABELLO put a shimmery foot forward as she stepped out ahead of her performance at yesterday’s iHeart Radio Festival.
The Havana hitmaker looked a picture of serenity on the red carpet in Las Vegas. But later on stage it was a different story, as the singer well and truly let her hair down.
Earlier this week Camila, who is dating Shawn Mendes, called a radio show to talk about the clip of her kissing him that went viral.
She told the listeners: “Honestly, it was just that we thought it was really funny. I think it’s a weird thing to be two people falling in love in the public eye.
“There’s a micro- scope on everything, even like the way that you kiss, the way you hold hands, the way you hug. Everybody has something to say about it.
“We were just kind of making fun of that.”
Harry and Liam real big earners
LOVE Island contestants have been declared the most bankable faces on the box according to this year’s Reality TV Rich List.
Compiled by Fabulous Magazine and out today with this paper, the list of the top 30 wealthiest reality celebrities includes FOUR new entries from the hit ITV2 show.
Series 2 runners-up Olivia and Alex Bowen break into the list for the first time with a whopping joint fortune of £4.4million.
Last year’s winner Dani Dyer is also up there after a money-spinning 12 months which saw her signing a fashion deal with In The Style for £750,000 as well as commanding up to £15,000 for every sponsored social media post.
TOWIE and Geordie Shore regulars also feature heavily, while Spencer Matthews and Ollie Locke are the only two from posh show Made In Chelsea to make the cut.
One Direction’s Harry Styles is again the highest earner, worth £58million, just ahead of bandmate Liam, with Little Mix not far behind.
The list only includes Brits who found fame on a reality show in the last ten years and was put together after researching each celebrity’s business interests, property investments and endorsement deals alongside consultation with managers, agents and publicists.
Dave Read, Managing Director of Neon Management, who has represented the likes of Katie Price and Joey Essex said: “Reality stars are proof of the earning power of appearing on the right television show, so it’s no wonder that people are going on Love Island just to make money. It’s a career move. Love is a bonus. If you make the final eight of Love Island, I’ll make you a millionaire in a year, guaranteed.”
Where do I sign?
Who’s the happy guy, Liam?
LIAM PAYNE gushed about girlfriend Maya Henry in an Instagram post of the pair laughing together.
The singer — second on Fabulous mag’s reality rich list — wrote: “Sometimes I don’t recognise this happy guy . . . sure glad you brought him back though.” And he thanked the model for “always keeping the biggest smile on my face through all the stress and making me realise how perfect my life really is.”
If that doesn’t make ex Cheryl wish she hadn’t Insta stalked him, I don’t know what will.
CHLOE’S NEW BIRD
IT’S been a good week for Love Islanders in the romance stakes. Sam Bird was seen kissing Ibiza Weekender star Chloe Chaloner in Majorca.
But it’s not that simple, as Sam’s ex-girlfriend is fellow Islander Georgia Steel.
And Georgia just happens to be in a relationship with Chloe’s ex Callum Izzard.
The source said: “Sam and Chloe were enjoying a night as friends, then sparks flew.”
The snog came after it emerged Callum and Georgia are engaged after a month.
I won’t be buying my hat for that wedding just yet.
Pete and Abbey in their Prime
PETER CROUCH and Abbey Clancy are being lined up to host an Amazon TV series after landing a one-off gig fronting Back Of The Net.
Model Abbey is guest hosting an episode of the Prime Video show on October 1, joining husband Peter, who is a regular alongside John Bishop.
A TV source told me: “Peter is a really charismatic presenter and the bosses know that Abbey has a great sense of humour that comes across brilliantly.
“Bosses want to position them as the new Marvin and Rochelle Humes – but funnier.”
James frozen out of Dancing On Ice
JAMES JORDAN was left out in the cold after Dancing on Ice bosses pursued him for a judging role – then ditched him in favour of John Barrowman.
Sources say the former Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer was about to sign up to replace acid-tongued Jason Gardiner on the judging panel for the ITV series this year.
But the offer was withdrawn at the eleventh hour after show chiefs decided to sign Torchwood actor Barrowman instead.
And sources close to James, who won the skating contest this year, says he was left smarting by the late call.
One said: “James would have been a fantastic signing for the panel. He is outspoken – though not as outspoken as Jason – and makes great television.
“He is an experienced dancer and knows what it’s like to compete on ice. He was very excited about the role and all ready to get stuck in. But then suddenly everything went very quiet and, out of the blue, John was announced.
“It was a real blow for James, and he was not happy at all.
“But now he sees it as the show’s loss and is focusing on other projects lined up for the future.”
Meanwhile his wife Ola Jordan, also a former Strictly pro dancer, is due to give birth, so James need not worry about not having enough on his plate.
Trolls in Em rant
EMILY ATACK was devastated when trolls posted “really nasty comments” about a set of paparazzi images, according to In The Style founder Adam Frisby.
Adam, who was with Emily during a shoot for his fashion brand, told me: “Her confidence hit rock bottom.
“In the end we did a reshoot when she was feeling much better about herself.”
Adam, who features in BBC One documentary Breaking Fashion on Wednesday, was keen to snap Emily up after I’m A Celeb because she had gone on a “body confidence” journey.
We should be celebrating Emily’s curves, not having a go at her for having a normal body.
CONAN GRAY got so edgy when he spotted Lana Del Rey sitting next to him that he bolted. The US pop newcomer said: “I was sitting in a cafe and I realised Lana was next to me and I just left. I was like, ‘I can’t do this’.”
Since he found fame with quirky track Generation Why he has been followed by The 1975’s Matt Healy. Conan told me: “I’m such a big fan boy of him. He’s the coolest guy alive. It was a moment when I was like, ‘this is big’. He’s super super chill.”
DUA EX ISAAC IN THE PINK WITH FLORENCE
DUA LIPA may have found love with Bella and Gigi Hadid’s brother Anwar but now her ex Isaac Carew has also moved on.
I can reveal he is dating stunning Florence Kosky, a model and a fashion designer.
A source told me: “They were spotted at London Fashion Week and seemed to be inseparable.”
Florence is Isaac’s first serious girlfriend since Dua split with him in June. Luckily for Isaac, who wore a pink jacket, left, to the fashion event, things now look rosier.
